What is skin made of?


The skin is the largest organ of the body and is divided into three layers: the epidermis, the dermis, and the hypodermis.

Some components of the skin at the level of the DermIS are essential to good health: 

  • Collagen: set of fibers located between the epidermis and the dermis serving of intercellular glue
  • Elastin:  helps the skin to return to its original position when it is pinched
  • Hyaluronic acid: the essential lubricant of the skin


What are the causes of wrinkles?

The quality and the quantity of collagen fibers and elastin in the derma start to decrease naturally in people over 25. In addition, free radicals tend to accelerate this natural process by attacking and damaging these components. It has been demonstrated that free radicals are the cause of the vast majority of perceived skin aging .

What are free radicals?

Free radicals are harmful oxygen molecules produced by the body in certain circumstances that attack healthy cells.

What are the main sources of free radicals in the body?

1. unprotected sun exposure
2. some skin beauty products
3. pollution
4. bad lifestyle habits : smoking, alcohol, low sleep, etc…

Is it beneficial to hydrate skin after Sun? 

Proper hydration is necessary but is not sufficient for several reasons:

  • After the Sun without proper protection, the skin generates a high concentration of free radicals
  • to repair the damage caused by these free radicals, need to use creams of high quality containing a large amount of antioxidants
  • to hydrate the skin does not repair the damage caused by the Sun

The damage caused by the sun appear years after unprotected exposures.It is therefore essential to well protect the skin from  a very young age. 

Why are free radicals harmful to collagen ?

How to prevent free radicals to attack the cells of the body?

As the body produces naturally free radicals, it is impossible to completely eliminate them. However, antioxidants reduce the oxidation process by absorbing free radicals. Therefore, it is recommended to regularly apply them on the skin and ensure their deep penetration in the skin.
